This past week of training was a bit different as we left for our Hawaii trip early Saturday morning so I had to squeeze 4 days of runs before we left. I was also helping out at VBS at our church, so that added an extra layer of tiredness, but I was proud to still get in the exact amount of training I needed to, despite more limited time. My body is definitely not used to running multiple days in a row, but it worked for this week and it will be nice to have more spaced out training this week in Hawaii.
Week 4
Mileage: 29 miles spread across 4 days Monday-Friday
Cross-Training: One 40-minute Peloton ride. I knew I wouldn’t be able to find another day to get on the bike so combined it into one day.
Workout: Switched it up from the hill circuit and did a 4 mile tempo in the middle of my mid-week 8 miler. It was supposed to be a progressive tempo (each mile gets faster). I hit the first two miles perfectly (7:00, 6:45). The other two miles I think were 6:40 and then 6:38. So not exactly “perfect” but it was a reminder that I still have a good amount of building in endurance I need to do. Overall still felt like a solid workout and a reminder of my love/hate for tempo runs.
Long run: 10 miles again. This one didn’t feel as good as last week as I had to do it even earlier than normal and mostly flat on the strand which I don’t love as much as PV. It was also my 3rd run in a row so my body felt fatigued. It was made better knowing that the next day we would be on a flight to Kauai and I wouldn’t have to worry about getting a run in for 2 days!
Week 4 in the books, bring on island time.
