Another week done. It was another building week. I am most proud of this week of training because I got every mile in and hit my workouts, even though I was not feeling 100%. It is SO easy to come up with the excuses and I almost did, but I pushed through and my body could handle the training even fighting a cold. There is definitely a time to not push through, but thankfully this was something I could run through. It gave me a lot of reassurance that even if my body for some reason is not in perfect shape (sickness, tiredness, minor aches) by the time of race, I can still get on the line and perform well.
Mileage: 47 miles spread across 5 days
Cross-training: Same as previous weeks
Workout: I was a bit concerned for this workout because the day before I was really not feeling good, but it felt better than expected. I did a 2mile tempo (6:14, 6:18), a mile recovery, 1 mile at a harder effort (5:50), a mile cool down, and then 2 x 800 hard with equal recovery. I definitely surprised myself by being able to hit paces and feel in control.
Long Run: Another 18 miles in the books. This one was an even better overall effort (7:41 average pace). I again did a pick up effort between miles 12-15. I felt pretty empty by the end of this run. I am definitely entering the completely exhausted stage of marathon training, but I know things will eventually start to feel better. Less than 6 weeks until race day!
