These weeks seem to by flying by, especially now that we are fully in the back to school rhythm.
This past week of training was another solid one. I was back up in mileage and hit my highest mileage so far and got in my first 18-miler. I have been doing all my runs solo, but this week got to share a few miles with a couple friends, which was nice!
Mileage: 44 miles spread across 5 days
Cross-Training: Same routine- a 30-minute Peloton ride and planks
Workout: I repeated the workout I did this week of training and it was much better. After I did a hill circuit of 3 x hard hill repeats, I recovered for 1-mile and then did a 5-mile tempo. The tempo was a faster pace and I felt more in control. The fastest mile was 6:22 and slowest mile was 6:35. I still want to get these times down, but happy to see improvements!
Long Run: 18 miles. This was kind of a random course that I did as I met with a couple friends in the middle of it. It was nice to have it broken up and have some conversations on the run. I also squeezed in a 3-mile pick up effort at miles 12-15. I was back in PV, so these miles were rolling but good to pick it up for a few towards the end of a long one. This run was also so much cooler than last Saturday. It even got misty at one part.
I’ve been in a really good routine of setting my alarm early and getting my runs done before the boys head off to school. I’ve really enjoyed this routine and last Monday enjoyed watching the sunrise. These early morning miles feel like such a privilege and I am genuinely so thankful to be able to train in the capacity I do, while still in the midst of raising 3 young children. I never take a single mile for granted. It’s a gift.
