Life Update: Third Baby Boy on the Way, My 20-Minute Exercise Routine and How We Are Celebrating Things Lately

Hey there! It has been a while since last I wrote. A whole half a year to be exact. It is crazy how much time has already passed. It’s been a full and busy 6-months to say the least.

I love this growing space that I created almost 5 years ago (crazy!!). I would never give up on it and I plan to continue to create lots more words in the coming months.

I wanted to give a little update on life things. The major one being we are having our third boy! I’m due mid-October and we can’t wait to welcome him into our family. The boys are especially excited. We continued our gender reveal tradition of the baseball hit. The first time, I threw the ball to Lance and he hit. The second time, little 2 1/2 year old Hudson hit it off the tee. And for the third time, both boys (5-years old and at the time, not even 2-years old) hit off the tee side by side. Thatcher did not break it at first, but had a great second swing. Some days, I really feel like we are raising a future little baseball team. I can’t wait to meet our boy. I love raising boys and feel so privileged that God is entrusting us to raise a third.

Since I am almost in my third trimester and will be 28-weeks next week, I am not doing any running. And I sure miss it! I actually haven’t gone on a real run this entire pregnancy. My last real run was 400 meter repeats on the track. That was the day before I found out I was pregnant and I haven’t run since. I definitely could run, but I am choosing not to. I just don’t want to add the impact and I actually think giving my body 9-months to just focus on growing a baby, is good for my body and I can come back to training even stronger and faster than before. That is the goal! Sub 2:50 marathon in 2024 is definitely the goal.

Even though I miss my running routine, I have created a new fitness routine that works for this season. This new routine has reminded me of the power of 20-minutes. I have been primarily doing 20-minute Peloton rides. I started the pregnancy only doing low-impact rides. As the pregnancy progressed smoothly, I started to incorporate regular 20-minute rides and now at the point where I do at least 2-3 interval or hill rides. For these harder efforts, I’ve been enjoying Olivia Amato’s classes. This is basically the only exercise I am doing plus one good walk on the weekend. This new routine is really reminding me that some movement is always better than no movement. Also, it is amazing what you can get out of 20-minutes!

The months of May, June, and July are always full of celebrating things. May is Thatcher’s birthday (he turned 2 this year). June is Hudson’s birthday (he turned 5 this year). And July is Lance’s birthday AND our anniversary (we just celebrated 8 years of marriage). All this to say, May-July could easily get overwhelming. I have been a lot more tired this year with the pregnancy and simply didn’t have it in me to throw a bunch of parties. I really changed my mindset around birthday parties this year and I think it’s healthy. We definitely still did a LOT of celebrating for both of the boys, but did it a more low key way with not a formal birthday party where we had to invite all the people.

For Thatcher, we celebrated with a fun trip to Disneyland and dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen. T has been obsessed with Buzz Lightyear and we even got to see him at California Adventures! On his actual birthday, I got this cute “two infinity and beyond” banner to hang in the dining room. I picked up a few balloons from Party City with a big silver 2! We spent the day with some one-on-one time while Hudson was at preschool. I took T to a fun little indoor playground called The Coop. In the afternoon, we all recovered from our Disney day by watching Toy Story. By the day’s end, my family came over for a simple dinner and I made box Funfetti cake for dessert. It was still so much celebrating and I needed a couple days to recover, but it was way less stressful than throwing a huge party.
